Fashion Trends for Women Sandals in 2022

After spending the previous few years cocooned in sweatpants and slippers and confined to our homes, a new, optimistic approach to dressing emerged at the end of last year, as seen on the spring/summer 2022 runways. As we head into the second half of the year, it’s clear that colorful and stylish dressing is here to stay, infiltrating every aspect of fashion, including our sandals.

While statement-making styles are making a comeback, flat, casual shoes are far from “out,” as plenty of riveting takes on comfort-forward favorites like slides, sneakers, slippers, and even the traditional ballet flat.

As the Y2K revival continues and retro nods to fashion’s past reach viral status on our social feeds, nostalgia also plays a role in the year’s biggest shoe trends. The fashion trends for sandals in 2022 are:

1. Colorful Sandals

While black may be the only color loved by the fashion crowd, when it comes to spring shoe trends 2022, it’s just about mood-lifting bright. We saw models walk the runways of the world’s fashion capitals wearing brightly colored shoes. Designers embraced the optimism that adding color to our wardrobe brings and the joy of dressing, from Versace to Stella McCartney.

2. Platform Sandals

Wearing sky-high platform sandal can give an instant lift in your height. The stompy heel, seen on our favorite fictional fashion icon Carrie Bradshaw and dominating the catwalks from Sportmax to Ermanno Scervino, proves that we’re finally ready to dress up again.

The chunky block sandal and colorful platforms coming through 90’s inspiration once favored by our beloved Spice Girls and devoted fans everywhere appearing all over Spring/Summer catwalks.

Pair these sandals with a printed midi or a bold mini dress for a maximalist look, and finish with a colorful clutch. Wear these statement shoes with an oversized shirt, jeans, and chunky gold jewelry for a more understated look.”

Because of the block sole, it’s easier to wear than a stiletto; experiment with vibrant Crayola hues, or add a preppy twist with some on-trend Mary Janes.”

3. Pointed Toe Sandal

Dressing up is back, and with weddings and parties on the horizon, designers took advantage of the opportunity to glam up their footwear. It’s time to say farewell to your favorite slippers and hello to pointed-toe shoes. A pointed toe shoe in both sandals and flats will instantly lengthen your legs and give a nod to the ’80s and ’90s nostalgia that has been sweeping the runway. Here’s how to wear the trend, from classic black stilettos to bold bright.

4. Ankle strap Sandals

If you enjoy a nostalgic ’90s anklet, you’ll enjoy this trend. Ankle detailing elevates all shoe shapes and silhouettes this season, making it ideal for wearing with shorter dresses and cropped hem jeans. Ankle embellishment was all the rage on the runway, from statement straps to chain detailing. From Moschino to Armani and Tom Ford, designers were focusing on the details to distinguish their summer shoes.
